Rabies also known as Lyssavirus is one of the most dangerous viruses ever.

Rabies is named after the greek god for crazy.

Rabies starts with an animal bite and travels through the nerves.

It stops going to your cells to duplicate but instead of destroying the cell just leaves, that way it doesn't raise alarm in your immune system.

It travels through your nerves by using microtubules that give the nerve structure and stability, Lyssa uses this and dynein motors (little legs that carry proteins) to travel from one end to another.

This process can take months or years depending on where you are bit. But by the time your body notices and release Killer T cells it's too late. When the cells arrive the virus took control of the nerves and tells the cells to self-destruct.

Now it reaches the brain stem, nobody really knows how it kills but the current guess is it disrupts the neurons so much they can't work properly, leading to symptoms like confusion, aggression, and paralysis.

Now it travels to the salivary glands where it duplicates and foams your mouth ready to infect a new host, but there are no cases of a person biting someone. Now the brain starts to swell causing you to go into a coma.

But there is a cure a normal vaccine that can be given after the bite or before.
